Prompt 2- Protagonist Qualities

The protagonists in "Malice" the book that I am currently reading are, Seth, Kady, Tall Jake and Justin.

Seth is probably a middle schooler.Physically he is tall, but he is not very aware of the happenings of Malice. He is kind and shows a lot of concern. He is a friend of Luke and takes it upon himself to go anf find Luke when he gets lost in Malice.

Tall Jake is the villain in the story. He is the holder of Malice and he kidnaps the kids who perform the chanting ritual. He traps the kids in other dimensions. But the book hasnt so far disclosed information on Jake's motive to do so. From PG.24 " Tall Jake take me aw.. Seth was shushed away before he got any further, and he was surprised to see fear on his friend's face..." from this quote you can see the fear Luke has against Tall Jake

Kady is also a friend of Luke. She is probably a middle schooler too.She is slim with brown hair. She loves to work on computers and is a researching ;"Malice". She is also a good climber this is true because on PG.17 the book says "Kady was a good climber her dad supplies her with all the climbing gear she needed..."

Justin is Seth's friend and according to the book has been in Malice for two years. He is physically small-made but very fierce. He is bound to win fights because of his physical strength. He helps Seth find his way through Malice while he looks for Luke. " justin glared at him. Seth was bigger, but he suspected that Justin
would attack someone twice his size with the right provocation." PG. 133. That quote shows justin's stubbornness and ferociousness.

Journey post 1

Here is a passage that I relate to from a book titled "Malice"  and my response to it.

"....you ever heard of Malice" Luke said. Kady stirred in her sleep and muttered something, too softly to hear. " what about it?" Seth asked. Luke lowered his voice still further, until it was hard to hear over the music and the sound of the engine. " I found a copy." "You read it? What's it like?" His face clouded. "It's strange. It's pretty strange. Last night I said the chant."    (  Pg. 23-24)

I am currently reading this book called Malice. In this book there are 4 main characters Seth, Luke, Heather and, Kady. These kids are afraid of the rumor called Malice. This rumor propagates the belief that if kids have the right ingredients and say the words "Tall Jake, take me away", the ritual will trigger a spell where Tall Jake (villain) will kidnap the kid and put him/her in a parallel world that is displayed as a comic. Consequently, at one point Seth goes to look for his friend Luke who is lost in Malice because he wanted to prove to a girl called Heather that there is no such thing. Seth tells Kady that he is going to look for Luke and does the ritual.

The passage that I chose takes place at the beginning of the story far from the time Seth does the ritual. The children are secretive and whisper amongst themselves for they are forbidden to read comics such as Malice, and Luke doesn't want his friends to get involved. However, it shows that Luke has tried to prove the rumor wrong by chanting the ritual. But after a day he gets lost and it is then that Seth undertakes the journey of discovery.

These quotes are therefore important for the journey since they symbolize the journey to come. The journey itself begins when Seth finds himself in Malice looking for Luke. But he gets into problems. As soon as he enters the comic world, he is cornered by a weird contraption that is threatening to kill him. Then a person named Justin helps Seth fight of the contraption and they get to know each other.

Where do you think his journey will take him?
This journey will probably endanger Seth and put him in life threatening situations inside the parallel comic world of Malice. As you can see in the previous text, Malice is a horrible place and is not merciful to any kid there. So Seth will probably have to survive many obstacles Tall Jake might put through his way to stop Seth from getting out of Malice.
